The Japanese government confirmed that Dokdo belongs to Korea in 1877.

A Daijokan order (太政官指令) issued by the Japanese government in 1877 states that Ulleungdo and Dokdo have nothing to do with Japan. In other words, Dokdo is a Korean island.
